21st Annual Trenchless Technology Certification Schools

CUIRE at the University of Texas at Arlington will hold its 21st Annual Pipeline and Trenchless Technology Training and Certification Schools in conjunction with the Underground Construction Technology (UCT) International Conference & Exhibition on Monday, February 6, 2023 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando Florida. This year's program includes Pipes (Schools A & B) Advanced HDD (Schools C & D), as well as ½ day of Microtunneling/Pilot Tube (School E) and Spray Applied Pipe Lining - SAPL (School F).

Pipe Schools

School A - Rigid and Steel Pipes: Monday, February 6, 2023

  • 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon: This School will cover applications, capabilities, manufacturing, standards, advantages, and limitations of steel, and rigid pipes such as clay, concrete and new developments in these pipe materials and joining systems.

School B - Flexible Pipes: Monday, February 6, 2023

  • 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM: This School will cover applications, capabilities, manufacturing, standards, advantages and limitations of flexible pipes such as ductile iron, PVC, HDPE, fiberglass, polypropylene, and new developments in these pipe materials and joining systems.

Advanced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Schools

School C - Planning and Design: Monday, February 6, 2023

  • 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon: Planning and Design of large, mid- and small-size HDD projects from inception to closeout and delivery. The School will include talks on pipe loads, bore planning, drilling fluids and case studies.

School D - Construction Considerations: Monday, February 6, 2023

  • 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM: This School will include construction projects of all sizes, plus tracking, tooling, and locating and case studies.

Pilot Tube and Microtunneling School

School E: Monday, February 6, 2023

  • 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon: This School will cover Planning, Design, and Construction of Microtunneling Methods (MT) and Pilot Tube and Other Guided Boring Methods (PTGBM) and will include case studies. A discussion of new ASCE Microtunneling Standards and Manual of Practice on PTGBM will be presented by authors.

Spray Applied Pipe Lining (SAPL) School

School F: Monday, February 6, 2023

  • 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM: This School will cover application of Spray Applied Pipe Linings (SAPLs) for water, sewer (sanitary and storm), oil and gas. Information on polymeric and cementitious/geopolymer SAPLs, such as planning and design, material properties, surface preparation, installation methods, and performance specifications will be provided.

CEU and PDH

Who Should Attend?

Public officials, transportation agencies, design and consulting engineers, utility company personnel, designers, utility owners and operators, and contractors who are involved with constructing, renewing, and managing utilities. CUIRE Schools are organized by the Center for Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE), Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Texas at Arlington; and cosponsored by Underground Construction Magazine.

Pay with check or credit card (Visa, Master Card, Amex, and Discover). Register early: Registration is limited to first 40 people on a first time, first-serve bases.

On-site (walk-in) registrations are welcome based on space availability only.

Certificate & Professional Development Hours: These Schools qualify for up to 12 Professional Development Hours (PDH) of continuing education credit. A PDH certificate-indicating inspector training will be awarded at the conclusion of the School. The wallet-size certificate will be mailed shortly after completion of the schools.
