| Abstract: | The VR Wheelchair Simulator is intended to allow users to experience some of the mobility-based challenges that may be presented to a wheelchair user, although users of any background are invited and encouraged to utilize the simulation. It is intended to be useful and informative, whether it's used as a training simulation for current or soon-to-be wheelchair users, or as empathy training for non-wheelchair users. Wheelchair users can practice wheelchair mobility and experience real feedback in the simulation while increasing confidence in navigating real-world obstacles. As empathy training, the simulator can help provide non-wheelchair users with a glimpse into some of the challenges wheelchair users face when traversing an environment, especially one that is less accessible by wheelchair. |
