| Title: | Battery Cycler |
| Abstract: | The efficiency of different battery types provides critical data for industries when selecting power sources for their equipment. A battery cycler is designed to evaluate the capacity of various rechargeable batteries and supply this essential data. The requirements of the cycler are that it must support battery voltages between 2.0V and 4.1V and allow for charge currents as high as 5A. To cycle the battery, the team will design a constant current programmable load to discharge the battery along with a programmable constant current-constant voltage (CC-CV) battery charger. A user display is required to allow the user to set desired current and voltage limits. An LTM8026 step-down regulator will charge the test battery under the user-defined CC-CV limits. A programmable load will be designed to simulate different load types from the battery during discharge, and all will be monitored utilizing sensors to track battery capacity to show battery parameters on a user-friendly display eventually. |
