Title: Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Airframe and Avionics System
Abstract: The Modular Aerial Unmanned System aims to develop a flexible and customizable unmanned system that integrates multiple sensors for data collection, flight stability, autonomous navigation, and ultimately carry out designated mission objectives. The UAS uses a quadcopter airframe in conjunction with a Pixhawk flight controller to process data outputs from sensors and operate flight commands. The model design implements LiPo battery, GPS sensors, LIDAR sensors and camera sensors to create real-time environmental data observations that will be used to create and update flight commands. This project methodology is defined by modularity, the ability to interchange sensors on the onboard system to adapt to different mission types. Additionally, the system needs to be open source and scalable in order to reach a wider range of utility. Size, weight and power must be considered for every interchanged sensor configuration in the UAS project. The current project proposal has been divided into four phases: research, design modulation, hardware implementation, and verification. Each of these phases was used to create our current model.
