Title: A Systems Engineering Approach to the Application and Processes of Hybrid Energy Storage Modules
Abstract: As energy storage technologies evolve, the need for efficient system modeling becomes increasingly important. This project applies a systems engineering approach to understanding the functionality and dynamics of a Hybrid Energy Storage Module (HESM) – a device designed to optimize energy management. By leveraging Cameo Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) software, we develop diagrams and system models that illustrate the module's processes, interactions, and key components. Our objective is to enhance comprehension of the HESM's architecture, particularly in areas such as power flow, energy conversion and system integration. The project explores how MBSE techniques can improve visualization, facilitate troubleshooting and support decision-making in energy storage applications. By integrating systems engineering principles into the modeling process, we aim to demonstrate how a model-driven framework can be used streamline the development and implementation of hybrid energy storage systems.
