Title: NIT: Automated Mobile Tool and Reloading System
Abstract: Our team, Propulse Inc., has been tasked with designing and developing a prototype showcase for the Nitroset 805 tool, suitable for use at convention centers. Potential customers can see the tool in operation, mounted to a moving platform that can fire up to eight utility clips with hangers into a wooden plank simulating a ceiling. Our prototype has three main subsystems: A Pro-series 4426 Utility Cart modified with a motorized wheel for mobility, an elevation system to drive the tool upwards for fastening operations, and a utility clip and wire hanger reloading system assembly. All the subsystems have been integrated using a microcontroller to perform reliable and safe firing operations. Along with the prototype, the team will have developed a simulation ceiling to demonstrate the tool at company demonstrations. The ceiling will be designed for quick assembly & disassembly while withstanding the tool's upward forces. The project's outcome is to have a fully integrated cart that can perform fastening operations at four designated points within a 4-foot section of the simulated ceiling, demonstrating the tool's capabilities.
