| Title: | Optimizing Production Efficiency at Siemens West Switchboard Complex |
| Abstract: | The Siemens West Switchboards Complex in Grand Prairie, Texas, manufactures switchboards for major clients like Amazon, Tesla, and Google, and wishes to reduce rack inventory by 15% and improve Kanban location accuracy by 100%. Our team will apply DMAIC methodology to identify excess inventory and reduce holding costs and disruptions to material flow. In the Define phase, we establish project goals and key problem areas. The Measure phase involves collecting data on rack inventory, consumption rates, part sources (warehouse or fabrication) and supply frequencies. During the Analyze phase, the team identifies Kanban system inefficiencies and gaps between inventory levels and production needs. The Improve phase focuses on optimizing replenishment methods and adjusting supply frequencies to support just-in-time inventory. Finally, Control ensures long-term sustainability through monitoring and standardized processes. By leveraging DMAIC and industrial engineering principles, this project aims to streamline material flow, reduce waste and achieve Siemens inventory reduction goals while maintaining production consistency. |
