| Title: | Solid State Linear Transformer Driver |
| Abstract: | The Solid-State Linear Transformer Driver (SSLTD) is a compact, modular pulse power generator designed to deliver high-voltage, high-current pulses with precise timing control. Unlike traditional LTDs, the SSLTD utilizes solid-state components such as MOSFETs to achieve faster switching speeds, improved efficiency, and greater scalability. The system operates at voltages ranging from 10 kV to 50 kV, currents of 200 A to 1000 A, and frequencies between 100 kHz and 1 MHz. A key feature of the SSLTD is its modular architecture, where multiple modules arranged around a transformer core contribute to power adding and field concentration. Challenges include minimizing parasitic inductance and capacitance, ensuring stable power delivery using voltage regulators, and optimizing the transformer core material for minimal losses. The project leverages LTSpice for circuit simulations and Altium for PCB design, with the final goal of constructing and testing a fully operational SSLTD stage. The SSLTD represents an advancement in pulse power technology, offering a compact and scalable solution for applications such as particle accelerators, directed energy systems, and pulsed power research. |
