| Abstract: | Ariat's distribution process is currently based on fragmented orders where a wholesale customer's large order is broken down into smaller shipments that are released in waves. Rather than having their order arrive in one shipment, they receive their order in multiple smaller shipments. The project will begin by having the team identify what factors contribute to the current order fragmentation and assess their effects on shipping costs lead times. With data provided by Ariat and its third-party logistics partner, the team will analyze order patterns, evaluate the feasibility of consolidating shipments, and develop potential solutions. The final outcome will include data-driven recommendations for wave release scheduling, shipment consolidation strategies, and cost-benefit analyses of proposed changes. This project aims to provide a shipping strategy that reduces costs while maintaining or improving service levels for Ariat's customers |
