Title: Fixed Wing 3D Printed Aircraft
Abstract: The 3DPAC competition is an annual competition that challenges students to create innovative 3D printed aircraft. The objective of our project is to design, fabricate, and test a fixed-wing 3D-printed aircraft that is lightweight and maximizes flight time with only 8 seconds of power. To achieve this, the team will use an enclosed FDM 3D printer, aircraft design principles, and SolidWorks and Ansys to create and optimize aircraft designs. Performance will be evaluated based on flight time duration and innovative design. By the end of the Spring 2026 semester, our client will receive documentation of the aircraft design, analytical substantiation, test results, fabrication plan, build data, a flightworthy aircraft, a video showing the aircraft in controlled flight, a competition design report, and lastly an aircraft design guide. This project helps prepare us for real-world engineering challenges, mainly by developing our team coordination skills and giving us hands-on design experience.
