Title: Data Analysis of Intakes and Outtakes from Local Animal Centers Using Python
Abstract: A noticeable problem in many communities is the rising number of stray animals in public spaces. While often viewed primarily as an emotional or ethical concern, this is also an operations and capacity issue with measurable system impacts. When shelters reach full capacity, intake restrictions increase, which delays the removal of animals from the community. As a result, animals remain on the streets longer, increasing risks related to animal welfare, public safety, and community resources. This project frames shelter overcapacity as a system level constraint and motivates data driven decision-making to better manage intake, outcomes, and capacity.
