Title: Micromouse
Abstract: This project presents the design and analysis of an autonomous mobile platform (“micro mouse”) designed for controlled motion, efficient power management, and precise sensing using compact, low-power components. The system employs two 6V DC geared motors (2000 RPM, 0.0294 Nm stall torque, 1.5 W max) to achieve speeds up to 2 m/s and accelerations near 2 m/s². Mechanical and electrical analyses verified performance requirements, yielding an operating torque of 0.0192 Nm per motor and a total electrical power demand of 6.19 W under load. Power is supplied by a 7.4 V, 2200 mAh, 50C LiPo battery chosen for its high discharge rate and energy density, providing an estimated runtime of 57 minutes at nominal conditions. A 3.3 V, 600 mA step-down regulator powers the control electronics, including a microcontroller and five VL53L-series Time-of-Flight sensors. The selected components and derived parameters demonstrate a balanced integration of electrical and mechanical design principles to achieve a compact, energy-efficient platform capable of stable motion and accurate environmental sensing.
