Title: Investigating Shielding Strategies Based on a Nested Faraday Cage Design
Abstract: Nanopore sensors are highly sensitive to electrical, mechanical, and optical noise, which can significantly degrade signal integrity and compromise accurate data acquisition. This study addresses noise mitigation and signal conditioning techniques to improve the clarity and reliability of nanopore signals. The objective is to implement noise reduction methods that suppress electrical interference without introducing additional distortion from mechanical vibrations or ambient light fluctuations. The research includes controlled signal testing, harmonic vibration analysis, and light attenuation experiments to characterize external noise sources. In addition, circuit-level simulations were performed using Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE) to evaluate and optimize the analog filter design for enhanced signal integrity. These simulations were conducted to reduce the long-tail response of nanopore signals and to decrease the rise time of step responses while preserving signal fidelity. A nested Faraday cage was implemented to shield the system from external electromagnetic interference, complementing the optimized analog filtering approach. Experimental results demonstrate improved signal clarity, reduced noise coupling, and enhanced transient response characteristics. The implementation of a nested Faraday cage combined with optimized analog filtering significantly improved noise mitigation and nanopore signal integrity for reliable data acquisition.
