Title: Multi-User Spatial Anchor Stability and Drift Analysis in Meta Quest Mixed Reality Environments
Abstract: Reliable spatial alignment is fundamental to enabling consistent and immersive multi-user Mixed Reality (MR) experiences. This project presents a measurement study of spatial anchor stability and positional drift across multiple Meta Quest devices operating within a shared physical environment. We develop a Unity-based multi-user MR system integrating OVRSpatialAnchor, Meta XR colocation building blocks, and the Photon Fusion networking framework to enable synchronized shared-anchor experiences across devices while recording real-time spatial measurements. The system captures 6DoF anchor pose data, including camera-to-anchor distances and cross-device spatial offsets, throughout collaborative sessions and across repeated runs. These measurements are used to quantify drift magnitude, evaluate alignment consistency between users, and analyze variation in spatial offsets across sessions. These measurements enable evaluation of temporal drift behavior and shared-anchor consistency in collaborative MR settings, providing quantitative benchmarks to support future research on spatial reliability and synchronization in multi-user XR applications.
