Title: Remote Sensing of Subsurface Soil Moisture
Abstract: Over the past decades, soil property monitoring has become increasingly important due to climate change. It provides essential information about the land. This information can then be used to predict natural disasters such as drought, flooding, or the land's potential for agricultural productivity. This project aims to establish the feasibility of a novel subsurface soil sensing system. It consists of a backscatter soil sensor, which stays in the ground, and a radar system which captures the reflecting signal. An algorithm is developed to estimate the soil moisture from the received signal.
