Extending Access to Key Software
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department is extending a longstanding software licensing agreement with Cadence Design Systems. The agreement allows UTA to continue to access Pointwise meshing software, which is used extensively in computational fluid dynamics for aerodynamics and hypersonics research.
Luca Maddalena, professor and director of UTA's Aerodynamics Research Center (ARC), hailed the agreement because of what it provides for students. "Hundreds of ARC students have utilized this software for their research and professional development,"" he says. "We look forward to continuing and strengthening this special relationship for years to come."
Pointwise was founded in the 1980s by UTA alumni John Chawner, John Steinbrenner, and Rick Matus, who studied under Professor Emeritus Dale Anderson.
