Saying Goodbye

Civil Engineering Department Chair Ali Abolmaali and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies Erick Jones have left the college to become deans of engineering.

Dr. Abolmaali, who had been at UTA for 21 years and served as chair since 2012, became dean at Wright State University on Aug. 1. Dr. Jones, who joined UTA in 2013, took over as dean at the University of Nevada-Reno on Sept. 1. In his capacity as a Jefferson Science Fellow, he spent last year working at the State Department in the Office of the Chief Economist.

"I wish Dr. Abolmaali and Dr. Jones luck in their new endeavors," says Dean Peter Crouch. "They contributed greatly to our College of Engineering, and I am certain that they will both have great success as deans."
