Out of this World

Wendy Okolo ('15 PhD, '10 BS, Aerospace Engineering) has been busy since graduating from UTA. In addition to her successful career at NASA, she published a book, Learn to Fly: On Becoming a Rocket Scientist, in 2023.

Dr. Okolo returned to campus last fall to speak about the book, which is an academic memoir sprinkled with humor and tips for succeeding in STEM.

She currently works as an aerospace engineering researcher in the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center, where she conducts research and leads cross-functional teams in aerospace vehicle controls and systems health monitoring, helping things fly safer and more efficiently.

Her research experiences include the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and the Advanced Development Programs of Lockheed Martin (Skunkworks). ₪
