HF Controls Awards Research Gift
The nuclear industry is highly specialized and must adhere to stringent regulations, so the entire design, testing, and validation process is extremely labor- and time-intensive. Yonghe Liu, an associate professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department, is leveraging artificial intelligence techniques to help reduce the amount of labor and time associated with this process while better adhering to the rigorous regulations.
Dr. Liu received a research gift to help global instrumentation and control systems manufacturer HF Controls create better processes to develop, test, and validate nuclear plant control systems.
“With this gift, we are exploring how leveraging cutting-edge AI techniques can shorten development cycles, improve system robustness, and help maintain nuclear power's role as a safe, efficient, and vital energy source,” Liu says. ₪
