Board Award

Solaris CEO Receives National Honor

Evelyn Torres-Gomez, founder and CEO of Solaris Technologies Services and a member of the College of Engineering Board of Advisors, received the Radio Club of America's 2024 Wireless Innovation Award.

Established in 2022, the award recognizes individuals who create a new concept or product to be used in the wireless industry.

Torres-Gomez owns patents in tower design and cabling and has received numerous awards for innovation. She spearheaded her company's development of Mobile Internet Tower Technology, or MITT, a mobile Wi-Fi tower that uses low-Earth-orbit satellites and cellular-based redundancy to provide high-speed internet access from any location. MITT can be used to bridge connectivity gaps during disaster relief, for rural connectivity, and at outdoor events.

“Wireless innovation requires you to be a risk-taker and be ready to embrace failure,” Torres-Gomez says. “Innovation is happening every day. What are you doing to contribute to its growth?” ₪
