UTA Establishes Supercomputing Hub on Campus

UTA has a new $2.1 million supercomputing hub on campus, thanks to the College of Engineering and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation. The hub will help facilitate research that processes vast datasets, including many that rely upon artificial intelligence technologies.

“This will enable faculty, staff, and students to more easily process and analyze vast amounts of data,” says Kate C. Miller, vice president for research and innovation. “This additional capability is crucial for investigators to identify patterns, trends, and insights that might be hidden in smaller datasets.”

Previously, UTA researchers who needed to process giant amounts of data had to rely on the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), which is maintained by UT Austin with the help of a grant from the National Science Foundation. While TACC's supercomputing capabilities are much greater than those at UTA, the new hub is still a huge local asset for UTA researchers. ₪
