Cybersecurity Designation

Department Recognized by the National Security Agency

UTA's Computer Science and Engineering Department has been named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) by the National Security Agency, underscoring the University's academic and research leadership in this critical field.

“Earning an NCAE-C designation shows that our program is of national caliber and gives us visibility,” says Associate Professor Shirin Nilizadeh. “This will help us with recruiting, open doors for internships and jobs, and increase opportunities for collaboration with industry and federal agencies.”

Fourteen UTA computer science and engineering faculty are experts in areas like network security, privacy, malware, and information security. They are part of 11 grants totaling more than $9.2 million in research funding. The department plans to launch a bachelor's degree program in cybersecurity soon. ₪
